Your HSConnect account allows you to log into various online applications offered by the Health Sciences Information Technology group. These include but are not restricted to:

    1. Conflict of Interest SuperForm

  4. What happens if I create more than one account?

Creating more than one account means that your account information is scattered in multiple places.  This makes it difficult for you to manage this information and might even create problems in accessing certain applications. To prevent this, before creating an account, make sure that you do not have an existing account.

If you have already created more than one account, please submit a help request online at http://support.health.pitt.edu/cs/?a=HSConnect. Make sure you provide valid contact information so that the help desk can contact you if required. You will be answered on the next business day. 9. Why did I receive an error when trying to create my account?  How do I know what caused the error?  (When you error out at any point, it does not give you the reason.)

In an online application, errors can occur due to various reasons. These include but are not limited to network glitches, incorrect code, or invalid inputs. If you run into any such error on our applications, please copy the error and place a help request online at http://support.health.pitt.edu/cs/?a=HSConnect. You will be directed to a page displaying your account information. Click on the change link next to your existing username. You will be redirected to the “Change Username” form [Image 2]. Your email address is used for communications regarding your account. So, make sure that the username is a valid current email address that you can access.

  11. Why did I receive an error when trying to change my username?

You will get an error if you have tried to input an incorrectly formatted email address. You will also get an error if you provide an email that is already in the system. Remember that the email address you have provided is used for contacting you in response to your queries and to email account information. Ensure that you keep your account updated with a valid current email address that you can access.

  12. How do I change my password?

To change your password, go to https://www.hsconnect.pitt.edu/ and log in. You will be directed to your account information page. Click on “change” link next to your password. 13. Why did I receive an error when trying to change my password?

You will receive an error if you did not provide your old password or did not provide it correctly. Also, passwords need to be at least 4 characters long. If you have selected a password that is shorter than the minimum limit you will get an error and HSConnect will not change your password.

Remember that it is good practice to change your passwords regularly. Also, alphanumeric passwords are better for security purposes. Finally, the password field is case-sensitive, and you must enter it in the same format as when you selected it.

  14. Does my password change every so often like my others do?

Your password will change only if you have changed it manually as discussed in Question 13 or had someone do so on your behalf. If your password has changed without your intervention, it is possible that somebody else has compromised your account without your knowledge. This is a serious issue.

If possible, change your account username and password immediately.  Also, immediately submit a help request online at http://support.health.pitt.edu/cs/?a=HSConnect. Make sure you provide valid contact information so that the help desk can contact you if required. Alternatively, you can call us during business hours at (412) 648-2222.
